Two Moldovans from Stefan Voda district detained for extortion of 83,000 dollars

Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - Two men from the south-eastern Stefan Voda district have been detained by prosecutors for attempt to extort 83,000 dollars through blackmail from a man from the Straseni district.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS), they were demanding money under the pretext of a concocted debt, which amounted to more than 1.4 million lei in the national currency.
Thus, the two men would have rented a vehicle, by which they moved to the home of the victim’s parents in Straseni, where they conveyed messages of intimidation to the man. On the same purpose, they created a page with forged data in social networks and were sending threatening messages to the victim.
The two men have ages between 30 and 35 years and have been earlier tried for diverse offences. Following their detaining, PCCOCS prosecutors formulated their accusation and the law court considers approaches of their placement under preventive arrest for 30 days.
