Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ – The fiscal infringements worth up to 5,000 lei for entrepreneurs and up to 500 lei for citizens will no longer be sanctioned with fines. The cabinet of ministers today voted a draft law which provides for amendments to the Fiscal Code to this end, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Under Moldova’s fiscal legislation, there is a difference between the significant fiscal infringement and the non-significant one and the sanction in form of warning is imposed exclusively for the insignificant fiscal infringement. The present threshold for which the warnings are applied is 1,000 lei for entrepreneurs and 100 lei for citizens.
Through the implementation of these amendments, decision-makers rely on the improvement of the investment climate and the fiscal bodies are to be perceived as institutions which provide support to tax payers in enforcing the legislation and promoting the fiscal compliance. Respectively, this will contribute to the diminution of the administrative burden on entrepreneurs and citizens and will ensure the proportionality of the imposing of the fiscal sanctions.
The draft is to be submitted to parliament for consideration and adoption.
