Scholarships of pupils, students to be increased by 6.9 per cent in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - Education and Research Minister Anatolie Topala, at a today’s cabinet meeting, presented a draft decision which sees the increase in scholarships for pupils and students by 6.9 per cent, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

Under the document, the quantum will be increased for the following categories of scholarships:  

- performance and special scholarships for gifted pupils from republican boarding schools specialized in arts and talented pupils from the 4th-9th forms of the National Choreography College;

- the education scholarships for the higher education students (cycle I, cycle II, integrated studies, medical and pharmaceutical education), pupils of the post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary vocational education.  

- the education scholarships provided to the secondary vocational education;

- education scholarships for the students of the higher education – cycle III (higher doctoral education), physicians residents, secondary clinical physicians, as well as post-doctoral students;   

- the scholarships (monthly balances) for pupils and students of education institutions from the military and public order sector;

- the merit scholarships for the higher education students (cycle I, cycle II, integrated studies, medical and pharmaceutical education) and the pupils of the post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary vocational education.

The increase is applied starting from January 2022. On the date of the decision’s entrance into force, the pupils/students are provided a supplement equal to the difference between the scholarship established according to the present decision and the scholarship paid for the period starting from 1 January 2022 till the entrance into force of the decision.  

The sum provided for to this end is of 17.4 million lei.
