Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Kingdom of the Netherlands will support Moldova in the process of reformation of the economy and the justice system, as well as in the implementation of the Association Agreement with EU. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte made statements to this effect at a today’s joint news conference with President Maia Sandu.

The head of state said that it was for the first time that a Dutch PM visited Moldova. ‘’This is a special occasion for resetting the political dialogue and strengthening the bilateral relations, as well as for laying the foundations of a strong future partnership in the important fields for our citizens. Your visit takes place in a tense regional context and as we said in our today’s discussions, we hope that the political dialogue will give us the peaceful solution which we everybody want. The peace is the essential condition for the development of each country – and Moldova wants to go the way of development and modernization,’’ Sandu noted.

The Moldovan president specified that the Netherlands had been by the side of Moldova in the two major crises from the last two years. ‘’We are grateful for the support of our sanitary system in the fight with the Covid-19 pandemic. Thank you also for the support provided in the context of the energy crisis, when the Hague Government backed the European Union’s initiative to provide a grant of 60 million euros to Moldova, in order to easier go through this energy crisis. In the long run, we rely on your support in the carrying out of projects on energy infrastructure, which will create Moldova’s energy independence. The rich experience you have in the green economy sector and the one of renewable energy will be of good help for Moldova,’’ Sandu added.

Maia Sandu urged Dutch business people to come to Moldova.

Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte informed that a delegation of Dutch business people would come to Chisinau in next May. Presently, there are 153 enterprises with Dutch capital in Moldova: in IT, real estate sector, finances and constructions. The Dutch PM declared himself as Moldova’s ambassador in the process of implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
