Emergency Commission to convene in meeting today

Chisinau, Feb. 24 / MOLDPRES /- The Emergency Commission will meet today to take the necessary steps to deal with this crisis and humanitarian challenges. The announcement was made by President Maia Sandu after a meeting of the Supreme Security Council convened in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

The President of the Republic of Moldova stated that today the Government will ask the Parliament to declare a state of emergency.

"We ordered the intensification of the patrol efforts of the MAI subdivisions in order to prevent possible challenges. I ask the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are visiting or staying in Ukraine to return home. All border crossing points are open and open with additional teams. Several flights Ukraine landed in Chisinau today. We will take care of these people ", said Sandu.

The head of state specified that all state institutions are on alert and urged local authorities to cooperate intensively with the central ones to manage the situation. "There is an increase in transit flow at the border crossing points with Ukraine. Our institutions install sorting centers. We will help people who need our support. At this moment we are ready to accommodate tens of thousands of people. At the same time, the Government is in constant contact with international organizations and we have prepared several scenarios in case we will have a higher flow of refugees ", concluded Sandu.
