More than 3,000 Ukrainians enter Moldova

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s state border was crossed by 6,937 people, of whom 3,000 Ukrainian citizens. The data was made public by the Interior Ministry (MAI).    

According to MAI, the Moldovan authorities organize activities of providing support to foreign citizens who cross Moldova’s border. Following the activation of the Situational Plan on the management of flow of migrants today morning, the Interior Ministry instructed the creation of provisional centres in the settlements Palanca and Ocnita.   

The goal of the provisional centres is to provide first needed legal and food assistance to immigrants.  The centres will have conditions of accommodation for a term of 72 hours. Also, people will be given food and hygiene packages. Officers of the Migration and Asylum Bureau (BMA) who will deal with their documentation, as well as medical employees and social assistants, due to provide assistance, will work at the centres.

At the same time, MAI informed that the Migration and Asylum Bureau had activated an emergency plan and was prepared to manage eventual demands for asylum.
