Works to improve water supply services underway in Edinet

Chisinau, March 2 / MOLDPRES /- In Edineț, the construction-assembly works are underway within the project Improving the water supply services in Edineț financed by the European Union.

Specialists in monitoring the projects of the North Regional Development Agency (ADR) and regional consultants of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Moldova recently conducted a field monitoring visit to find out about the execution of the works within the project. Together with the parties involved in its implementation process, the representatives of ADR Nord and GIZ Moldova monitored the supply parts in the process of installation. The works within the project are executed according to the schedule.

In Edineț, within the project financed by the European Union, 40 km of water supply networks are rehabilitated and extended, which, through the 2,778 connections, will provide with safe drinking water 18,235 inhabitants of the city, without interruptions. The construction period is September 2021 - July 2022.

The total value of the project in Edinet is 58.70 million lei, of which 50.70 million lei - granted by the European Union, and 8 million lei - local contribution. With the support of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Apa-Canal Edinet benefits from a financial support of 34 thousand euros, which includes: a laboratory equipped with equipment for water quality monitoring, equipment for leak detection water, personnel equipped with clothing and protective equipment. At the same time, specialists were trained on how to manage various aspects related to quality management, business planning, customer relations and further extension of services to neighboring municipalities.

The investment measure Improving water supply services in Edinet is funded by the European Union and implemented by ADR Nord and the project Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova (MSPL). The MSPL project is funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova.
