Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved a string of measures for supporting the participants in the combat actions for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence and of their family members, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the combat actions at Dniester, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Under the document, this year, a single material assistance worth 2,500 lei will be provided, from which 20,705 citizens, who participated in fights for the country’s defence, will benefit. Both the spouses of the survivors and one of the parents of the participants who died on battlefields will be able to enjoy this support on behalf of the state. The allowance will be established automatically by the National Social Insurances House (CNAS), without the need to submit an application.

At the same time, the period of participation in the military actions for the defence of Moldova’s integrity and independence (2 March – 13 August 1992) will be assimilated to the length of service for setting the pension, as non-contributive period, in triple size, which leads to the increase in the size of pensions to the concerned beneficiaries.

The draft also sees the giving, as exception, to the war veterans citizens of Moldova, who were awarded state distinctions, the right to nominal allocations, no matter the fact whether they are or are not beneficiaries of pension or state social allocation and whether they have residence in Moldova or not.

About 56,584,500 lei is necessary for implementing the provisions of the concerned draft.
