Chisinau, March 3 / MOLDPRES /- The project Ștefan Vodă-Căușeni-Căinari main aqueduct, which is on the list of priority programs of the South Regional Development Agency (ADR), was accepted for funding from the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR) and is found in the Single Document of Program 2022-2024.

The general objective of the project is to improve the living conditions of the population of Ștefan Vodă and Căușeni districts, by ensuring access to quality water supply services. The final beneficiaries of the project will be 143,257 citizens from 26 localities of Ștefan Vodă district and from 48 localities of Causeni district. This project envisages the construction of a main aqueduct, with a total length of about 90 km, which will cross the cities of Ștefan-Vodă, Căușeni and Căinari.

In the first stage, it is expected to develop a feasibility study for this project and the design documentation. For this purpose, for 2022, by the Decision of the National Council for Coordination of Regional Development, it was decided to allocate four million lei from FNDR.

„The main water supply pipe Ștefan Vodă-Căușeni-Căinari will have the starting point from the village of Cioburciu, which is located in the lower Dniester area. The project also includes the construction of a water collection point, a water treatment plant, three water pumping stations towards the final point of the project, the development of five environmental protection zones, the creation of a regional supply service with drinking water ", according to ADR Sud.

The total cost of the project is about 55 million lei. In turn, the local public administrations benefiting from the project - the Ștefan Vodă and Căușeni District Councils, as well as the Căinari City Hall, have undertaken to ensure the co-financing of the project and to allocate, as co-investors, a financial contribution in size of 10% of the total value of the project.

"The implementation of this project is a priority for the Southern Development Region, given that the availability of water resources in the Republic of Moldova is currently at a critical level and the volume of groundwater is limited. Taking into account this fact, the project "Master aqueduct Ștefan Vodă-Căușeni-Căinari" aims to fully capitalize on the possibility of using alternative sources of surface drinking water, in this case the Dniester River ", summarizes a statement of ADR Sud.
