The head of the Single Crisis Management Centre, Dumitru Udrea,  today made statements to this effect at a news conference, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

As many as 25,000 accommodation places were identified through the centre’s efforts; the conditions from these locations allow their immediate use. Another 25,000 potential accommodation places might be used, if needed, after a certain adaptation. According to Dumitru Udrea, the carriage of refugees is made by 20 buses, with 1,000 places in all. Additionally, another 10 buses can be involved, if necessary.

In the context of more information inciting to hatred, which appears on social networks, Udrea noted that it was important that the people from Moldova show solidarity and remain united.

„Tens of thousands of refugees daily flee the war from Ukraine; with the overall number of refugees reaching 130,000 people today. Women, men, children, elderly people and young persons, who left their homes and their wealth earned in the entire life, who leave everything behind them, who carry only a suitcase with them. These people need our help, the one of the government and the local public authorities, police, physicians, rescuers. Moldova and the Moldovans in the last two days have helped and donated unconditionally, were sharing love and empathy, along with Martisors and a hot tea. Please, let us not be manipulated and especially provoked by certain instigators,’’ Dumitru Udrea stressed.

There are four points for the collection of donations for refugees.

Citizens can donate: folding beds, mattresses, blankets, pillows, towels, bed clothes, clothes and footwear, new unused toys and games; plates and dishes, personal hygiene products, detergents, diapers, tinned products; other packed food products.
