Audiovisual Council to be able to withdraw broadcasting licenses during state of emergency

Chisinau, March 4 / MOLDPRES /- Audiovisual Council will have the right to suspend, during the state of emergency, the broadcasting license of the suppliers and the retransmission authorization of the distributors.

According to a decision of the Committee on Exceptional Situations, providers and distributors of television and radio audiovisual media services will suspend the broadcasting and retransmission of all programs produced in countries which have not ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television. Exceptions will be made for feature and short films and entertainment shows. Countries that have not ratified the Convention include the Russian Federation and Belarus. The approved measure does not affect programs produced in the EU, the USA and Canada.

As of February 24, the Chisinau authorities have declared a state of emergency for 60 days throughout the country.
