ANRE provides explanations on oil products market

Chisinau, March 7 / MOLDPRES /- The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) is monitoring the situation on fuel market in the Republic of Moldova, which is already facing the consequences of the tragic events in Ukraine for the second week.

"The current regional context has ruled out the use of traditional means of transporting petroleum products from countries such as Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, which leads to a reorientation of all fuel imports to the western border. This factor implies for some oil companies that imported from the given region both the change of supply chains and the identification of new suppliers in exchange for the existing ones ", explains ANRE.

According to the institution, the given situation may have a short-term impact on their ability to ensure the full functionality of the managed filling stations. "It is important to mention that this phenomenon does not have a systemic character and does not affect the gas station networks that are traditionally supplied with fuels from Romania", according to ANRE.

For March 8 and 9, ANRE set the following maximum retail prices of standard type main petroleum products: for COR 95 petrol - 25.69 lei / liter; for diesel - 23.11 lei / liter.

ANRE reiterates that current imports and total fuel stocks in the country cover consumption needs and do not present systemic risk factors for consumers. In case of temporary fuel shortages at some stations, generated by the factors set out above, ANRE recommends the supply to other available gas stations. In this context, the Agency asks consumers to show understanding of the dramatic situation in the region and to use verified sources of information.

"All responsible institutions in the Republic of Moldova are closely following the evolution of the situation and are constantly striving to provide the state with the necessary volume of fuel in these extraordinary conditions," the National Agency for Energy Regulation summarizes.
