Moldovan parliament ruled out extraordinary assessment for judges whose terms expired

12:51 | 10.03.2022 Category: Social

Chisinau, March 10 / MOLDPRES /- Judges whose initial five-year term has expired or will expire by 1 April this year will have the opportunity to be appointed until they reach the age limit, on the basis of the ordinary evaluation carried out every three years. A draft law in this regard was adopted today in two readings with the vote of 86 deputies.

Thus, the obligation of extraordinary evaluation for judges whose mandate has expired or is about to expire is excluded. Respectively, the Superior Council of Magistracy is to send the proposals regarding the appointments until reaching the age limit to the President of the Republic of Moldova, who confirms or rejects the candidacy.

Currently, there are about 60 judges in the system whose initial five-year term has expired or is about to expire by April 1, 2022.
