Four people including customs officer detained in gold smuggling case

Chisinau, March 10 / MOLDPRES /- The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) announced today that it is investigating an attempted smuggling of more than a kilogram of gold from the United States, worth more than one million lei.
According to the quoted source, four people tried to fraudulently introduce, by mail, gold bullion and granules in a total amount of 1,024 grams, with a purity of 99.99%. The goods had been ordered online from the United States.
All suspects were detained for 72 hours.
