Head of state visits central district to discuss situation in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today visits more settlements from the central Nisporeni district. The first meeting was to the Varzaresti village, where the head of state talked to people about the most pressing problems of the moment, the presidential press service has reported.  

„Here, just as all over the country, the people are worried about the war taking place just at our borders and about its consequences, which we feel in the higher and higher prices for food products and for fuels,’’ Maia Sandu said. At the same time, the Moldovan president noted that the authorities did their utmost to maintain the citizens’ peace and safety and the problems which we face can be overcome through work and solidarity.

The head of state talked to the local residents about the soon launch of the European Village programme, through which projects for communities’ development will be financed. In the context, the president called on the public money to be spent fairly and efficiently, so that, despite the difficult times through which we go, the plans on improving the citizens’ living should be continued.   

„I was happy to see the support and appreciation of citizens for the signing of the application on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, a decision taken including given that we want to live peacefully, in democracy and prosperity,’’ President Maia Sandu said.   

In the end of the discussions, the head of state thanked people for the solidarity and kindness proved on these hard days, by receiving in the homes and communities thousands of refugees from the neighbour country. Through this, President Sandu noted, citizens proved that the kindness was the power of the Moldovans.
