Moldovan foreign minister has phone conversation with French counterpart

Chisinau, March 18 / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu had a telephone conversation with Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, the MAEIE press service has reported.

"In the context of France holding the presidency of the European Council, I discussed with my counterpart the agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, 21 March, in Brussels, where I will participate and have an informal exchange of views with EU foreign ministers. on the regional security situation and our European aspirations ", said Popescu.

On the humanitarian front, the Chisinau diplomat thanked his French counterpart for the assistance provided under the EU civil protection mechanism, through which the Republic of Moldova benefits from France of 37 tons of emergency equipment for receiving refugees, as well as 10,000 kits of hygiene.

Another priority topic of the conversation was to increase energy resilience, the health system in our country will benefit in the coming days from 17 high-capacity generators, France will continue to help us diversify energy sources.

As a concrete financial support for our country to face the economic challenges generated by the war in Ukraine, in addition to mobilizing European funds through the macro-financial assistance mechanism worth 150 million euros, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu appreciated the announcement of the French Minister to bilaterally grants a concessional loan for public sector reforms worth € 50 million provided through the French Development Agency and a new loan worth € 15 million.
