Moldovan speaker meets European official

Chisinau, March 19 / MOLDPRES /- Speaker Igor Grosu met this morning with Deputy Secretary General, Political Director of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora. The meeting was also attended by Doina Gherman, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration, and Adrian Băluțel, Secretary of the Committee, the parlaiment's communication and public relations department has reported.

Officials discussed the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine and the challenges posed by the regional security situation, its humanitarian and economic impact on the Republic of Moldova.

Igor Grosu mentioned that for three weeks now, citizens and authorities have been offering help to refugees, a gesture appreciated by our development partners. In this context, the speaker expressed his gratitude for the immediate support of the EU and its Member States in dealing with the process of managing the largest influx of refugees per capita.

Another important issue was security cooperation. Two days ago, an EU agreement was signed with the Republic of Moldova, which will allow Frontex agents to assist Moldovan border guards in managing the flow of refugees.

Igor Grosu and Enrique Mora also discussed strengthening Moldova's resilience, especially in terms of energy security and combating misinformation. At the same time, there was talk about the parliamentary agenda after the submission of the application for EU membership, which aims to modernize and transform the Republic of Moldova, in the way of European integration of our country.
