National Bank of Moldova, Finance Ministry sign bilateral cooperation agreement

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) and the Finance Ministry today signed a bilateral cooperation agreement. The agreement provides for encouraging the residents’ financial independence and raising the citizens’ awareness about the concepts of personal financial planning, saving and anticipation, as well as promotion of a responsible financial behavior, etc.
According to the BNM press service, the agreement was signed by National Bank’s Governor Octavian Armasu and Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi.
„This is an extra occasion to be closer to the citizens and help them better understand the financial and banking concepts: to cultivate their interest in the financial subject, current developments of the environment and market of financial services and the personal advantages in this respect. I am sure that this mutual cooperation on topic-related dimensions and of wider competence will yield fruits at the level of the entire community,’’ the BNM governor noted.
For his part, Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi said that the financial education was an indispensable attribute of the modern society. ‘’It contributes to the economizing of work’s results, to avoiding errors when we enter commercial transactions and develops entrepreneurial aptitudes, especially for young people. The financial education is part of our life, part of the decisions which we take day by day,’’ the minister said.
The accord was signed for a two-year period and will be able to be extended with the two sides’ agreement.
The National Bank of Moldova has more partnerships with public, education institutions and non-governmental organizations in the financial education sector. The first one is titled, Give sense to money, launched three years ago.
