Book by Moldovan historian launched at National Library

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - A book titled ‘’Între pace și război. Domnii fanarioți în contextul raporturilor internaționale (1774 – 1812)” (Between peace and war. The Phanariot rulers in the context of the international relations (1774-1812)), signed by publicist, PhD in history, lecturer, researcher, coordinator at the History Institute of the Education and Research Ministry Vlad Mischevca, was launched at the National Library (BNRM) today.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Vlad Mischevca said that the volume comprised 430 pages and had been published in 400 copies, with the Culture Ministry’s contribution. ‘’This monograph tackles topical issues as to the political history of the Romanian Principalities. The chronological segment in this work comprises the years 1774-1812 and represents a decisive period, extremely rich in international events of the political and diplomatic history of the Romanian principalities. The volume has four chapters: The policy and diplomacy of the Phanariot rulers; The activity of the Phanariot rulers within the rivalry of the great powers; The Phanariot rulers – political migrants and The Phanariots in the context of the Russian-Turkish war from 1806-1812, the author said.        

Vlad Mischevca was born on 14 March 1963. He graduated from the History Faculty of the Moldovan State University in 1986. In 1996, he maintained the thesis of PhD in history titled, Moldova in the international relations from the beginning of the 19th century (1802-1812). Presently, Mischevca is researcher coordinator at the History Institute of the Education and Research Ministry. He was awarded the Republican Prize of Youth. He also holds the honorific title of honorary citizen of the Donduseni town.
