Moldovan president, German Federal Chancellor discuss by phone

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The current situation in the region and challenges to Moldova today were tackled by President Maia Sandu at a phone conversation with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the presidential press service has reported.

Chancellor Scholz expressed gratitude for Moldova’s effort to provide protection and assistance to the refugees from Ukraine. President Maia Sandu thanked for the financial and humanitarian assistance provided by Germany, in order to manage the big flow of refugees, as well as for the openness to take over a part of the refugees. Also, the head of state highlighted the need of additional support, in order to diminish the economic consequences borne by Moldova because of the war. It is about, as a priority, the possibility to open EU’s markets for Moldovan goods.
