Settlement from western Moldova district to have community post of firemen volunteers

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - A community post of firemen volunteers, which will serve 18 neighbour villages, with a population of more than 20,000 residents, has been inaugurated in the Parlita village, western Ungheni district.  

The firemen post was built from the ground and was endowed with a special vehicle and needed intervention equipment, due to financial assistance by the Austrian Development Agency and financial contribution of Estonia, local public authorities and the Ungheni district Council, provided within the project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Reduction of climate risks and disasters. The overall cost of the investment is of 169,885 euros.   

The building has a kitchen, sanitary unit, session hall, all endowed with the furniture needed, as well as a box for keeping the special vehicle and the equipment related.  

The special vehicle donated to the post of firemen volunteers has a capacity of 1,600 litres, is endowed with hydraulic equipment and advanced pumps and can be used both for extinguishing fires and in case of other emergency situations, even in settlements with roads difficult of access.

Fifty six firemen volunteers will work at the station, chosen from local residents. They will be able to quickly intervene in case fires and emergency situations till the arrival of professional firemen.
