Moldovan government approves new social protection measures

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today ruled to extend the right to annual material assistance for the spouses and parents of the participants who died while fulfilling the duty in the combat actions for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence, participants who died while fulfilling their duty in Afghanistan and the participants in the relief works at the Chernobyl nuclear power station, who died, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

Both the spouses and parents of the aforementioned categories will benefit from this right. In the case of parents, the annual material assistance will be able to be raised till 31 May 2022.   

The draft was worked out, in order to enforce the provisions of the Law No 63/2022 on the backing of the participants in the combat actions for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence and their family members, in the context of commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Transnistria War.  

At the today’s meeting, the cabinet also approved a draft decision on the indexation of the minimally guaranteed income on 1 April 2022, with the indexation coefficient 1.1394, related to the inflation rate in late 2021. This indicator is used when establishing the right to social assistance and to the aid for the cold period of the year.
