Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - The librarians from Moldova in 2021 put emphasis on the strengthening of the digitalization of the work in libraries. The results achieved were discussed at the National Library (BNRM) at an online event titled, The 2021 Bibliological Year – year of strengthening the digitalization of library’s activity, on 31 March.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that the symposium, The Bibliological Year, represented a platform of communication for the libraries’ professional community, which brings together managers of public libraries, specialists in charge of the libraries’ work from the local public administration, as well as specialists in the librarianship field and information science, as well as in adjacent sectors.

According to Pintilei, the papers from the event were focused on those five professional priorities of the 2021 year: information technologies in the work of libraries – the imperative of survival; Digital inclusion of the specialty staff from libraries; Development of services based on the Information Technology and Communication (ITC), accessible online; Development and promotion of the Open Science; Promotion of reading as basis for the multilateral development. Attending the event were representatives of national libraries, territorial public libraries, university libraries and from colleges, centres of excellence, school libraries and specialized libraries.

The Bibliological Year symposium represents one of the identity elements of Moldova’s National Library, as well as of the National System of Libraries. Year after year, on this library platform, decision makers make a retrospective of the achievements from the year before, disseminate good practices, which consolidate the librarians and provoke them to develop abilities and competences of library’s development.
