Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - The security situation in the region and the cooperation in the European integration sector have been discussed by President Maia Sandu with Foreign Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavský, Federal Minister for Foreign and International Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Ivan Korčok, the presidential press service has reported.

President Maia Sandu thanked for the support provided by the European Union, as well as directly by the EU countries for the management of the big flow of refugees who entered Moldova from Ukraine starting from 24 February. The head of state noted that about 50 per cent out of those 100,000 refugees, who are presently in Moldova, were children. The sides also referred to the way Moldova can overcome the challenges faced by the economic and social system because of the war. A solution to this effect is that the exports which have earlier gone to the East should have a greater access on the EU market.

The three foreign affairs ministers appreciated the determination with which Moldova copes with the current regional situation, amplified by the economic problems and the ones in the energy sector. They also showed interest in new opportunities of cooperation between their countries and Moldova; among the sectors of common interest, there are the renewable energy, combating the misinformation of backing infrastructure projects for settlements.
