Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, on a working visit to Berlin, has participated in a meeting of the German Bundestag’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, the government’s communication and protocol department reported.

The PM informed the Committee’s members about the developments of the situation in Moldova, taking into account the crises coming one after another on the last period: pandemic crisis, the energy one, inflation and the economic situation in the current regional context.

The prime minister noted that, on this precarious situation, Moldova needed quick actions, targeted on the settlement of the most acute problems, as well as budgetary support in form of grants. In the context, Natalia Gavrilita thanked the foreign partners for the assistance provided both to manage the crises and in the efforts for the country’s development. She specified that the reforms underway had not been abandoned and the cabinet would continue to work, in order to improve the people’s living.

„At the Donor Conference, I presented our needs in terms of foreign assistance, as well as the immediate action plan which we have worked out, in order to enhance the country’s resilience. We will orient ourselves to the increase in revenues, ensuring the food security, energy security, enhancing the competitiveness, fighting corruption and ensuring the public order. At the same time, in eight months of governance, we have been with our citizens – we provided compensations, the revenues were increased; yet, it is quite difficult to compensate in eight months those 30 years of inaction. Nevertheless, we are determined to work more, in order to develop the country and ensure a decent living for our citizens,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

In discussions, the sides analyzed the impact of the war from Ukraine on Moldova, as well as the difficulties faced by the Chisinau authorities in managing the flow of Ukrainian refugees. In this respect, the Committee members highlighted the professionalism with which the Moldovan leadership had acted, and especially the quickness and efficiency with which the decisions were taken at the government to help the refugees. At the same time, they appreciated the hospitability of the Moldovan citizens, who made them seen all over the world through their solidarity.
