Moldovan sappers liquidated 32 explosives last weeks

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/- Sappers of the National Army have liquidated 32 explosives and 114 cartridges of various calibers in Chisinau and Balti municipalities, as well as in Anenii Noi, Orhei, Dubasari, Straseni, Ialoveni, Sangerei, Falesti, Ungheni and Hincesti districts .

According to the head of the engineering service of the National Army, Igor Livițchi, in the second half of March, the sappers intervened in Cocieri, Dubasari district, where a local found in his garden several explosive objects. As a result of the ground research, they identified an RKG-3 hand grenade, a VOG-17 grenade, a UZRGM warhead and 114 cartridges of various calibers. Ammunition, which dates back to World War II was safely destroyed.

During the same period, the group of engineers from the Moldova Motorized Infantry Brigade was called to the village of Grigorești, Sangerei district, where the people found in the nearby forest an artillery projectile, 122 mm caliber and a 120 caliber bomb. mm.

The same team moved, on April 1, to a neighborhood in Balti, to evacuate an 82 mm caliber bomb. The ammunition was discovered after excavations on Burebista Street in the city and presented a danger to the locals.

MA statistics show that 35 demining missions have been carried out since the beginning of the year, as a result of which 120 explosives of various types and 7,999 cartridges were destroyed throughout the country.
