Pump prices for petrol, diesel likely to fall

12:07 | 08.04.2022 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) announced today that it has recently witnessed a slight decrease in Brent's international quotations for crude oil and accordingly, Platts quotations for petroleum products. As a result, pump prices for COR 95 petrol and diesel are also on a downward trend.

"Issue on oil prices remains politicized, which negatively influences consumers' perceptions of the correctness of the mechanism for establishing them."

ANRE claims that the consumer in the Republic of Moldova pays a fair price in line with the realities of the day when he buys fuel. "The methodology applied ensures a balance between the interest of consumers to have the lowest possible price and which, at the same time, offers oil companies the possibility to recover the costs incurred if they are managed efficiently," the institution's statement reads.

Thus, following the pricing algorithm, based on the average value of the average Platts quotations for the previous 14 days correlated with MDL / dollar exchange rate, ANRE set the following maximum retail prices of the main petroleum products of standard type for 9 -11 April: for COR 95 petrol - 26.98 MDL / liter (-0.17 MDL); for diesel - 26.80 MDL / liter (-0.48 MDL).
