About 2,000 refugee children from Ukraine going to schools in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/- Refugee children from Ukraine are enrolled in the education institutions in Moldova. The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) continues to focus on it. This is the basic issue approached at a today's meeting with representatives of the specialized local bodies in educaiton sector, led by Minister Anatolie Topala.

According to the latest data, on 12 April, 1,858 applications have been submitted to education process by the children of refugees from Ukraine. 578 out of them are applications for early eduation and 1,280 - for primary and secondary education.

According to MEC, 647 children are going to primary school, 546 and 53 - secondary school within 228 education institutions in the country.

Education is carried out in Romanian and Russian languages. Thus, 125 are studying Romanian and 1,121 - Russian. 564 children are going to 250 kindergartens.
