Chisinau, April 21 / MOLDPRES /- In 2021, Nicolae Alcaz, a producer of organic fertilizers from Ungheni, received a grant of 30,000 euros from the European Union under the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions Program, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

With this money, Nicolae Alcaz builds a high-performance and modern soil analysis laboratory. Thus, it will be able to produce fertilizers in larger quantities and in better conditions. At the same time, the investment will generate six new jobs, two of which are highly qualified, agrochemical workers.

"The laboratory will have equipment that will establish the micro and macro-elements of the soil, as well as the organic matter of the solutions that will be given for testing", Nicolae explains.

From the EU grant, the manufacturer purchased laboratory equipment: pH, ion and photometric measuring equipment, stainless steel fermentation reactor, digital devices. All this makes it possible to perform ground analyzes. Only after the composition of the soil will be established, will it be possible to come up with organic solutions for fertilizing the land.

"Organic fertilizers are a real salvation for degraded and chemically polluted soils, as they remedy and restore the humus layer, increase drought resistance, improve crop quality, stimulate plant growth and development," says Nicolae Alcaz, who has been producing in Ungheni for almost ten years organic fertilizers.

Nicolae Alcaz's company is one of the 26 beneficiaries of the Business Sector Grants Program in the key regions of Ungheni and Cahul, 2020 edition. 15 existing companies, 10 startups and a social entrepreneurship initiative received grants worth 15,000 - 30,000 euros each.

The total amount of grants for the business environment in the Cahul and Ungheni regions that will be offered in the period 2020-2024 under the program is about 1.7 million euros.

The EU4Moldova: Focal Regions program (2019-2024) supports smart, inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development in the Cahul and Ungheni regions, in order to ensure a better quality of life for citizens. The program has a total budget of 23 million euros, is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
