Moldova to benefit from 46 million euros for projects on supply with water, sewerage

Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES/ - About 70,000 citizens from more settlements of Moldova will have access to better services of supply with water and sewerage, due to an agreement on loan worth 44.1 million euros and a grant on behalf of the government of Austria, amounting 1.55 million euros.   

The agreement on financing and grant was signed in Washington by Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi and World Bank’s Country Manager Inguna Dobraja. The money is meant for implementing the project, Security of supply with water and sanitation in Moldova.    

The project includes four components: enhancement of the access to services of supply with water and sewerage, managed in conditions of safety in rural zones and cities selected; strengthening the institutional capacities nationally and locally, in order to improve the providing of services of supply with water and sewerage; management and coordination of the project, the component will finance the operational costs, services of consultancy, audit, consultants for backing the implementation, trainings and workshops, etc.; response with emergency interventions.      

„The last component allows the government to ask the International Development Association to re-quality and reallocate financial sources from other components of the project, in order to cover responses to emergency situations and costs of recovery,’’ the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR) said.             

The project is to be implemented till early 2027; a part of the money was earmarked for improving the conditions of hygiene in 100 schools and 25 medical assistance institutions from rural settlements.
