Joint Control Commission does not hold weekly meeting

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The today’s weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) did not take place, because of the absence of Ukraine’s representatives, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

Following the clarifications made, decision-makers found out that representatives of Ukraine and other diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova had been informed in written form by Tiraspol about the unilateral imposing of conditions as to the entrance/exit into/from the region, including in the perimeter of the Security Zone.

Moldova’s delegation drew attention of the participants in the Commission that such actions fit into the innumerable number of challenges deliberately triggered by Tiraspol on the last period, in order to destabilize the situation and thereby they abusively infringe the provisions of the basic documents of the peacekeeping mission.

Tiraspol’s representatives were asked to give up such destructive and excessive approaches, which ignore the format and mandate of the peacekeeping mission, including on aspects concerning the monitoring and control of the situation in the Security Zone.

At the same time, during the movement to the JCC meeting, the Moldovan delegation members fixed the presence of strengthened posts of the Transnistrian power-wielding structures, which once again confirms that they defy the provisions of the Agreement on the principles of peaceful settlement of the armed conflict from Moldova’s Transnistrian region from 21 July 1992 and other documents which regulate the activity of the peacekeeping mission.

The concerned subject will be maintained by the Moldovan component on JCC’s agenda till the situation returns to normal, with the insistence that the meetings should be resumed only in full format.
