European Union launching new grant call for entrepreneurs from Ungheni, Cahul

Chisinau, April 29 / MOLDPRES /- Existing businesses and start-ups in Cahul and Ungheni regions will receive grants of 14-24 thousand euros each, under the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions Program, funded by the EU and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The new call for grants worth up to 300,000 euros is being launched today, and the deadline for submitting applications is 6 June 2022.

Grants will be awarded to 16 companies in the third call for funding. Financial assistance will be allocated for the purchase of equipment, goods, works and services for business development, for the promotion of circular economy models, the creation of new jobs, the increase of the attractiveness of key regions for new investments.

This means more effective support for existing start-ups and businesses, sustainable local capacities in a sustainable way. Thanks to this new support from the EU, in the form of grants, people will be able to benefit from new jobs and a strengthened local entrepreneurial culture ", said Jānis Mažeiksz, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

Dima Al-Khatib, UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova said that several successful projects, implemented in the first two rounds of private sector grants in Ungheni and Cahul regions have a tangible impact on the local economy. "This call for proposals will provide an opportunity for a new group of entrepreneurs to develop their potential and create new jobs, innovate and adopt green and circular economy practices in their operations," the UNDP official said.
