Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with representatives Polish OSCE chairmanship-in-office

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today received, at the headquarters of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), Ambassador, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Conflict Settlement Thomas Mayr-Harting and the special envoy of the OSCE chairperson-in-office, ambassador Artur Dmochowski, the MAEIE press service has reported.     

The diplomats referred to the present situation in the process of settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and the latest worrying developments on the left bank of Dniester. In the context, Minister Nicu Popescu stressed the importance of maintaining stability and peace on both banks of Dniester. Popescu evoked the fact that the Moldovan authorities relied on the practical support of the Polish OSCE chairmanship-in-office and the other foreign partners in this respect.

„I pointed out the need to avoid actions which might lead to the destabilization of the situation in the region and it is important that we do not allow negative scenarios. This is a complex situation which imposes us to be vigilant. We count on the support of all foreign partners, including OSCE, so that the situation is monitored with increased attention,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head said.  

For his part, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Conflict Settlement Thomas Mayr-Harting emphasized that the OSCE kept an eye on the developments and backed the identification of solutions by means of dialogue in the well-known formats.
