Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will buy electric energy also from the Kuchurgan power station during one month as of 1 May. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita made statements to this effect at a news conference following the meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) today evening.

The PM informed that the tender earlier organized by the Energocom State Enterprise for purchasing electric energy had been cancelled, as ‘’unfortunately, all participating companies offered higher prices than the current cost.’ ‘’All bidders who participated in the tender proposed exorbitant prices, with the cheapest bid being of 96.5 dollars for one MW/hour, which is a double tariff for energy against the present one,’’ Gavrilita said.

In these conditions, Energocom will negotiate with the Kuchurgan power station the signing of a contract on electric energy supply, but only for one month.

According to the prime minister, a temporary solution was identified. ‘’We established Energocom to negotiate directly with the Kuchurgan Station for one month, the negotiation of the lowest price possible. As a result, we have got a price of 59.5 dollars for one MW/hour, against over 53 dollars, as it is at present and the contracts are in the process of signing,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

The PM said that, for the government, it was particularly important not to allow the increase in the price of the electric energy, which will trigger chain increases in prices for products and services. At the same time, Natalia Gavrilita gave assurances that the tariff for electric energy for consumers would not grow in next May.

The prime minister, who is also the CSE head, noted that this was a temporary measure and in the next month the government will have a rest to find a lasting solution, with acceptable prices.

Six companies participated in the tender organized by the Moldovan government.
