Moldovan fine artist exhibits works at Chisinau-based exhibition centre

Chisinau, 5 May /MOLDPRES/ - A personal painting exhibition titled, God and Nature, by fine artist, Master in Art, laureate of the National Prize Emil Childescu today was inaugurated at the Chisinau-based Constantin Brancusi Exhibition Centre, on the occasion of the artist’s 85th birthday anniversary. The exhibition comprises over 200 painting and three sculpture works.      

In the beginning of the event, the head of the Moldovan Fine Artists’ Union (UAP), Dumitru Bolboceanu, said that Emil Childescu was one of the most representative creators in the fine arts sector, dedicating his life and work to this field for more than 50 years.

Emil Childescu was born in the Sculeni commune, Balti county, presently Ungheni district, on 7 May 1937. In 1957-59, he studied at the A. Plamadeala Fine Arts College. Starting from 1964, he was member probationer of the Moldovan Fine Artists’ Union and in 1964 Childescu became full-fledged member of UAP. In 1983, he held the office of inspector at the Fine Arts Directorate of Moldova’s Culture Ministry, member of the leadership committee of the Moldovan Fine Artists’ Union (1985). 

Emil Childescu is author of about 5,000 works made in various techniques: painting, drawing, poster, monochromic and coloured woodcut, aqua forte. In 1994, the artist was awarded the National Prize, in 1999 – the Mihai Eminescu medal and the Prize for graphic art awarded by UAP. In 1997, Emil Childescu was awarded the honorific title of Master in Art and in 2012 – the Order of the Republic.     

The exhibition will be opened 22 May.
