Weekly meeting of Joint Control Commission held in Bender

16:01 | 12.05.2022 Category: Official

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - A weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place in Bender today. The delegations of Moldova, Russia, Transnistrian region, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission in Moldova came to the event, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

The participants resumed the consideration of the incident which occurred at the ‘’border guards’ ‘’ post, illegally set at the entrance into the Bender city, four weeks ago. At that time, the members of Moldova’s delegation were abusively detained by the so-called ‘’border guards,’’ who tried to carry out also a control of the Moldovan delegation’s automobile.

The Chisinau side condemned the provocative actions of the Transnistrian power-wielding structures, which show an absolute defiance by them of the acts which stay at the basis of the peacekeeping operation at Dniester. At the same time, the Moldovan delegation proposed the taking of decisions to this end, in order to discourage such abuses in the long run.

Tiraspol’s representatives avoided a constructive discussion, suggested by the other sides of the Commission. They turned down the proposals by the Moldovan delegation, refused to give assurances that such incidents would no longer be committed and spoke out for interrupting the meeting.

The Joint Control Commission is to hold another meeting on 19 May 2022, with the same subjects on the agenda.
