Closing event of MuseumInfoTur cross-border project held in Mereni, Anenii Noi

Chisinau, May 13 / MOLDPRES /- The development of local tourism brought together yesterday in Mereni village, Anenii Noi district, several actors involved in promoting the tourist-cultural values ​​in the Central Region of the Republic of Moldova, as well as in Galati County, Romania. This took place during the Closing Conference of the MuseumInfoTur cross-border project, funded by the European Union through the Joint Operational Program Romania - Republic of Moldova 2014 - 2020.

The main goal of the project was the creation of the Tourist Information Centers in Mereni, Călărași, Criuleni, Orhei, Rezina, Soldanesti, Straseni and Galati.

"We are proud of the results, managing to highlight the tourist potential of the localities in the project area. From now on, these Centers have the mission to increase the number of visitors, by creating unique tourist routes and routes and by promoting the authentic values ​​that we have discovered in the project activities ", director of the Regional Development Agency (ADR) Center Pavel Trofin said.

Andrei Chistol, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture said that the Government supports initiatives to increase the visibility of cultural and historical heritage by strengthening the capacity of cultural institutions. "We want these Centers to become an example for other areas of our country and we are fully committed to multiplying this practice in many other museums, where there is potential and desire," he said.

During the event in Mereni, the relationship of friendship and collaboration within the Network of Tourist Information Centers was strengthened by countersigning a Cooperation Agreement between the project partners and the local public authorities, founders of the museums where the mentioned Centers and the Paul Paltănea Museum were inaugurated. from Galați, Romania.

At the same time, a common brand of the network was developed, as well as a Guide to the destinations of cross-border cultural tourism in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in the localities part of the project. It will inform visitors about the existence of the network and the possibility to access information about regional tourist routes and places to see.

The implementation period of the project - Enhancing visibility of cultural and historical heritage within the cross-border network of museums - Tourist Information Centers is April 14, 2020 - May 13, 2022. The program was carried out by the Center Regional Development Agency, in partnership with Tourism Development Association of Moldova and Cross-Border Cooperation Association Lower Danube Euroregion (Romania).
