Five people detained by law enforcement in car, metal smuggling case

Chisinau, May 13 / MOLDPRES /- Five people were recently detained by law enforcement in a smuggled case of used car parts, as well as ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
According to the Customs Service, following the searches, both the suspects and some economic agents responsible for transporting the metals to the member countries of the European Union, were found: material obtained from the processing of catalysts - 600 kg, the value of which amounts to about 1 , 5 million lei, crushing equipment catalysts, catalysts - 1.6 kg and turbidity from exhaust pipes.
All the suspects were detained for 72 hours and the PCCOCS prosecutors will continue to determine whether they should be remanded in custody.
