Man detained at Chisinau Airport after trying to illegally take over 40,000 euros abroad

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - A man with dual citizenship (Moldova/Romania), who was to get onboard the Chisinau-Vienna airship, has been stopped by border policemen, after he tried to take 40,000 euros out of Moldova.
The case was registered today at noon in the Departures section, the VIP sector. At first, the man told the customs body about the taking abroad of a sum of 8,500 euros.
Following the control of the passenger’s luggage, besides 8,500 euros, a sum of 40,000 euros was found, which was to be illegally taken out abroad. The financial means were raised by the Customs Service and the case is investigated in continuation.
