New case of bird flu confirmed in Ungheni district

Chisinau, May 16 / MOLDPRES /- The Republican Center for Veterinary Diagnosis has confirmed the presence of the bird flu virus in samples taken from poultry from several households in Rezina village, Ungheni district, the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) has reported.

On May 14, the anti-epizootic commission of Ungheni was convened, which approved the plan of measures to combat and eradicate the outbreak. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing and is being carried out by a team of inspectors of the Territorial Subdivision for Food Safety Ungheni (with coverage and Nisporeni district), in collaboration with other competent institutions.

ANSA has started the procedures for notifying the competent structures at national level and within the European Union, the World Animal Health Organization, as well as other external partners, about the occurrence of the outbreak of avian influenza on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

This year, another outbreak of bird flu has been reported in the Republic of Moldova in domestic birds in the town of Hirișeni, Telenesti district, which has been eradicated.
