Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has conveyed letters of gratitude to over 100 national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as to private companies for the support provided and for the volunteering actions initiated to back the refugees from Ukraine , the presidential press service has reported.

In her message, the head of state says that almost three months had passed since Moldova proved unprecedented self-denial and solidarity for those who flee the war from Ukraine.

„We have helped the refugees and provided them with accommodation and food, supplied them with essential goods and relieved their grief with good words. In these difficult times, we helped hundreds of thousands of people and we showed to the entire world what a great and generous heart Moldova has. This is an effort which was possible due to our people, who got involved unconditionally,’’ President Maia Sandu said.

The letters were sent as a token of gratitude for the effort and generosity proved by these organizations and companies, from the very first day of the war, in order to help the refugees and they are the first ones from a string of such messages.

„I express, in this way, the appreciation for the united way we mobilized before the tragedy of our neighbours and for the kindness with which we share, from the little things we have, with those who need support. It is humanly for us to be able to rely on one another and to be by the side in hard moments. Our strength is in our unity. Thank you everybody,’’ reads the message by the head of state.
