Over 600,000 people suffer from high blood pressure - health ministry says

Chisinau, May 17 / MOLDPRES /- In the Republic of Moldova, over 600 thousand adults suffer from high blood pressure and cerebrovascular diseases. The data was made public by the Ministry of Health on World Hypertension Day
Last year, in the country, 29,853 people were diagnosed with hypertension and concomitant cardiovascular diseases (ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular diseases). Basically, every third person in Moldova suffers from high blood pressure.
Experts claim that high blood pressure or hypertension is the leading cause of death globally, including in our country. However, it can be prevented, and its effects can be diminished and even stopped, if blood pressure is frequently measured from the age of 40.
Symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, vomiting, confusion, insomnia, nosebleeds. The main risk factors that determine the occurrence of hypertension are age, stress, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, smoking.
World Hypertension Day is marked annually on May 17 and aims to raise awareness of health problems caused by high blood pressure.
