Head of Moldovan capital's municipal enterprise dismissed from office

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - The head of the Green Areas municipal enterprise, Serghei Carp, has been dismissed from office, following the death of a one-year-old girl, hit by a branch in the Alunelul Park from Chisinau. The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, informed about the decision today.   

At a news conference, Ceban said that the decision had been taken following an inquiry carried out by a special commission. ‘’More people were heard and a string of confirmatory acts were raised. After the inquiry, decision-makers established that the Green Areas enterprise in last September had asked for authorizations for the clearing of more trees, including in the Alunelul Park. According to information, the concerned tree was included in the application submitted. The authorizations were given as late as in five months – in February 2022. Thus, decision-makers invoked that the tree had not been cleared for technical working reasons and climatic reasons, which I deem as a groundless reason,’’ Ceban said.    

At the same time, the mayor noted that the new director of the enterprise would start a workplace investigation as to the deputy director of the concerned enterprise. ‘’Also, decision-makers will analyze the work of the sector inspector, master and higher master, as well as of other employees who would be related to this case,’’ Ion Ceban said.  

A one-year-old girl on 14 May was hit by a branch of a tree, which broke from its trunk, while the child was with her relatives in the Alunelul Park from Chisinau. The minor was carried to the reanimation section of the Municipal Clinical Hospital for Children and died because of the injuries got.
