Moldovan foreign affairs minister awards Diplomatic Merit distinction to Zdob și Zdub band, Advahov Brothers

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has received Moldova’s representatives at Eurovision – the Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.      

Deputy PM Nicu Popescu conveyed to the artists the appreciation and admiration for their excellent performance at the contest, noting that millions of people had sung and hummed on folklore and rock’n’roll paces of the song, Trenulețul (The Small Train). At the same time, the Moldovan diplomacy head informed that MAEIE, in cooperation with national institutions and Moldova’s diplomatic missions abroad, would pay special attention to the popularization of the culture and artists from Moldova.   

„We will pro-actively get involved in the promotion of the country and all those who are the standard bearers of the national culture abroad. For Moldova, the cultural diplomacy represents an efficient instrument for the promotion of our values and identity and the Zdob și Zdub band and Advahov Brothers, through their exceptional performance, proved that they are true ambassadors of our culture,’’ Nicu Popescu noted.     

The Zdob și Zdub band and Advahov Brothers were awarded the distinctions Diplomatic Merit of the third degree, for substantial contribution at the Eurovision contest and as a token of appreciation for the consolidation of the cultural image and profile of Moldova abroad.
