Moldovan president meets European Council head in Brussels

Chisinau, May 18 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu met on Tuesday evening with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, being the first meeting during the working visit of the head of state to Brussels, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials addressed the evolution of security risks in the region.
Maia Sandu thanked the European Union for support in managing the flow of refugees and overcoming the adverse economic and social consequences of the war. Also, the sides mentioned Charles Michel's recent visit to our country, in solidarity with the humanitarian efforts of the citizens and authorities of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the war in Ukraine.
Moldova's European integration agenda was also discussed. "Granting Moldova the status of a candidate country will be a signal of encouragement and support for the program of reforming our country according to the European model," said Maia Sandu.
