Moldovan government makes new staff reshufflings

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members accepted the appointment of four new ambassadors at a meeting today.
Under the government decision, it is about Viorel Ursu, approved as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Moldova to the United States. Also, the candidacy of Viorel Cibotaru was nominated for the position of Moldova’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Belgium.
The cabinet members also gave a positive notification to the nomination of Andrei Popov as Moldova’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Greece. At the same time, the candidacy of Mihaela Mocanu was approved as Moldova’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Austria, the country’s representative at OSCE and the United Nations.
According to the provisions of the law on the diplomatic service, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors are appointed and recalled from office by Moldova’s president, at a proposal by the government. The proposals on appointing ambassadors are put forward to the government by the foreign affairs and European integration minister, with the consultation of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration.
