Size of compensation for low income employees to be increased in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - The size of the compensation, as a measure of backing the low income employees, will be increased from 3,100 to 3,500 lei, to that no public sector employee has a wage lower than 3,500 lei. The cabinet approved a draft law to this end today.   

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the increase was suggested in the context of reconsideration of the minimally guaranteed quantum of the salary in the real sector worth 3,500 lei starting from 1 April 2022.  

The employees from the public sector institutions, for whom the monthly salary calculated for a position with a normal duration of the working time is lower than 3,500 lei, will benefit from increased compensation payments.    

The compensation payment will be determined as difference between 3,500 lei and the monthly salary calculated under the law on the single salary payment system in the public sector and will be recalculated proportionally to the time effectively worked. 

The draft law implies financial means worth 136 million lei, due to be covered from the fund provided for in the state budget for ensuring the provisions of the normative framework on the payment of salaries in the public sector.

The amendments will enter into force on the date of their publication and the compensation payments will be calculated as of 1 May 2022.
