MobiSign – new electronic signature to be available for free through mobile application in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - A new governmental service of identity and mobile electronic signature, MobiSign, will be soon made available to citizens and organizations and will be free of charge both for the citizens living in Moldova and from the Diaspora. At a today meeting, the cabinet approved the concept and regulation on the way of work and use of the governmental service of identity and mobile electronic signature, MobiSign.     

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, unlike the other types of digital signature, available in Moldova, the MobiSign application provides a string of significant advantages: it is free of charge, does not need card readers, can be downloaded directly from the phone and creates no impediments to the use on the same device of the mobile signature services provided by mobile telephony operators.     

The right to use the service could be got following the confirmation of the identity and registration at the operators nominated for the certification of the public key at the providing institutions: the multifunctional centres of the Public Services Agency and the diplomatic missions and consular offices for the registration of the MobiSign beneficiaries from the Diaspora. At the same time, the possibility of users’ distance registration is not ruled out.    

The advanced qualified electronic signature has the same legal value as the holographic signature and MobiSign will be a much more modern device of applying the electronic signature.  

The new service is created by the Electronic Governance Agency as component part of Moldova’s state information systems and is aimed at providing a sure, efficient and modern mechanism of electronic identification and creating advanced qualified electronic signatures, through the mobile application.
