Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with two French senators

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today had a meeting with the head of the France-Moldova friendship group of the Senate of France, Véronique Guillotin, on a working visit to Chisinau along with senator Michel Canevet, in order to boost the Moldovan-French inter-parliamentary cooperation, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The officials referred to the latest regional developments triggered by the war in Ukraine and the impact on the security, economic and social situation in Moldova.
As for the handing over of the filled in questionnaire to the European Commission for getting the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on perspectives of Moldova joining the EU.
At the same time, the sides approached subjects on the Moldovan-French bilateral cooperation in the economic, investment, infrastructure and energy sectors.
„I highlighted the unprecedented intensity of the Moldovan-French political dialogue and the ascendant dynamic of the development of the relations between the two countries,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
