Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu discussed with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi in Brussels today.
According to the presidential press service, the two officials referred, in particular, to the effects of the war from Ukraine on Moldova and the country’s efforts to back Ukrainian refugees. The sides also discussed the domestic reforms Moldova is willing to speed up, in order to strengthen the state, despite the uncertain situation in the region.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the European support provided to Moldova, in order to overcome the economic and social consequences of the war, as well as for the constant backing for the agenda of reforms and continuation of the country’s European integration.
„For Moldova, the European integration is, first of all, a project of the country’s domestic reformation and the EU’s support in this process is quite important,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the meeting.
